I began regular nordic walking in late December. My son, who lives in Sweden, gave me walking sticks for my birthday. In the meantime I broke my foot stepping off a curb the day before his wedding. By November, I was back in walking shape and in December I began to use the poles regularly. I can tell the difference between an hour walk with the poles and without. I regularly walk on the Mt. Vernon bicycle path and a few people have asked about the poles. But mostly I get comments about how they will bring the snow.
I am a 4th grade teacher--a career switch--in Fairfax County, Virginia. I love the challenge of engaging children in active learning.
I love to garden, sail (in small boat on a little lake in Michiagan), and travel.
