Marek and Ewa at Sky Meadows State Park in Virginia. As you can see, here we are using adjustable length poles, simply because the terrain at Sky Meadows is varied, with many uphill and consequently a lot of downhill trails.

My pack (with adjustable poles - used only on the approach and descent) on top of Old Rag Mountain, Shenandoah National Park. During the rock scrambles and bouldering on the ridge, poles would just get in the way.
