Dear all,
on September 18 2011 the nordicwalkinvenice event will take place: non-competitive Nordic Walking in the town of Venice, organized by the sports club SPES Mestre -Canoe Section.
On Saturday Sept 17 a "Nordic Walking Open Day" will take place at Parco San Giuliano in Mestre, where instructors of three national nordic walking federations (ANI - ANWI - Italian School) will show their techniques and will accompany the most experts along the park paths.
First in its kind, this event will bring a sport born in the cold Nordic countries to the most “walked” town in Europe.
To organize such a demonstration in Venice is not a trivial matter; the visibility that goes with it has no equal.
International enrolments are being registered by the web-site www.nordicwalkinvenice.com, which we hope you will visit soon.
We intend to have the press and the television, both local and national, take part in this important sporting event. There might be news in the international press as well.
A press conference in the presence of the Venetian councillors responsible for tourism and sport will take place.
Probably your federation has already informed you of this event in which, as already mentioned, the three Italian federations take part, aiming to promote this splendid sport.
The event, in our opinion, deserves to be promoted thoroughly.
Therefore we are sending you the poster, the flyer and a detailed program for your better knowledge and are inviting you to participation, together with your pupils.
Additional copies can be sent upon request.
We are also enclosing the poster and the flyer in jpeg format, in the hope that you put them in your portal.
I remain at your disposal for further information
We thank you in advance and hope to have you with us in Venice.

My husband and I have Sigg bottles which we use every day. The drinking water in Massachusetts is very tasty. Since ordering the Sigg bottles, we no longer are lugging heavy packs of water home very month. However, cleaning the bottles is not as easy as one would think. They cannot be washed in a dishwasher and it is a nuisance to rinse after using dish washing liquid. These tablets combined with a bottle brush make for an easy method of cleaning your water bottles.

Without knowing your health condition, I am not able to recommend anything, but in general terms, exercise and in particular relatively mild variety, such as Nordic Walking, should in most cases actually help controlling high blood pressure.

I have had poles for a number of years, I use them once in awhile, but I am not sure I am using them correctly. If I knew I was using them correctly I would probably use them more. Do you have a training session or can you recommend one? I am mid-40's fairly fit and strong, so I want to make sure I get a pretty rigorous workout with them. I live in Arlington. Thanks.

I have had poles for a number of years, I use them once in awhile, but I am not sure I am using them correctly. If I knew I was using them correctly I would probably use them more. Do you have a training session or can you recommend one? I am mid-40′s fairly fit and strong, so I want to make sure I get a pretty rigorous workout with them. I live in Arlington. Thanks.

Diane, please take a look at these articles of mine about poles. There is a subtle, but significant difference between trekking, or hiking and Nordic Walking poles.

As far as prices are concerned, there is a big difference in quality between some off-brand poles at Wall-Mart and real Nordic Walking poles from LEKI and Swix. As usual, you get what you pay for. Quality poles, which you (hopefully) will be using for many years are a relatively cheap investment. Also, don't forget that LEKI has a lifetime shaft breakage warranty.

Marek, nice to meet you! Isn't it amazing about all of those similarities?

I have tried Exel poles and although they do seem to be well-made, the Swix and LEKI poles seem to be agreeing with me more. That's one of the reasons why I pretty much limited myself to selling those two brands. The LEKIs have a very convenient quick strap release, which allows you to quickly detach the strap, with a press of a button, rather than having to take the straps off your hands. My favorites are the Speed Pacer Varios (must get the proper size, as they only adjust plus and minus 5 cm) and the Traveller Carbons. The Instructors are also very nice, less expensive, with a mixed, carbon/aluminum construction.

As far as shipping to Australia, it would be the actual price of the poles, plus $30 U.S. The easiest way to pay for shipping would be to simply purchase $30-worth of gift certificates (which you would obviously not actually get).

Hope this helps. Hope to hear from you again.

Hi, I read your history, we've got some similarities, firstly the name Marek, and I was also born and lived in Warsaw, then moved to Vienna in 1989 and then in 1990 to Australia.
I'm really interested in walking poles, would you advise me on Exel vs Leki brand. What would be total cost (including delivery) to Australia. At the moment I need them for myself but later was thinking maybe about distribution over here.
Regards
