Marko Kantaneva has made available his 'Original Nordic Walking' book.
This informative and very nicely illustrated book has sold over 50,000 hard cover copies in Europe.
It is now available in English as an e-book.
A sample of the book is available by clicking the 'Taste It' link in poleabout.com, a very cool Nordic walking website.
Although Nordic walking, walking with poles is not really that hard to master - it isn't after all 'rocket science' - starting the activity correctly is important, in order to get the most benefit.
I urge all of you to look for a qualified instructor. Those living in the Washington DC area can take advantage of the free demo classes, which I offer on a regular basis.
Marko Kanteneva is certainly a Nordic walking pioneer. He helped Exel develop their original NordicWalkertm poles and designed the INWA instructor training program. Here's an opportunity to learn from a true master trainer.
Although 'Original Nordic Walking' is a very good book, there are other good Nordic walking manuals available. David Downer has written the very comprehensive 'Nordic Walking - Step by Step' and Tim T-Bone Arem has put out 'Nordic Walking a Total Body Experience'. Geert Hulshof in turn, has written 'Nordic Walking - Equipment, technique and training'
All of these resources can help you with technique, equipment, fitness and all kinds of other fitness-related questions, but as I said, there is no substitute for a good in-the-flesh instructor.
